New Children's Hospital

18 June 2018

The Perth Children's Hospital his now open, and the Princess Margaret Hospital for children is now closed. Princess Margaret had previously provided urgent oral/dental/facial treatment for young children. Parents in the Rockingham, Port Kennedy region should be aware urgent treatment for their children is now in Nedlands not Subiaco.

It is part of the the QEII Medical Centre site, located at 15 Hospital Avenue, Nedlands, W.A. This is excellent news for the health of children in Western Australia.

A Dental Department is part of the hospital. Here dentistry is provided for children with chronic medical and dental problems requiring the services of a tertiary hospital. The dental department forms part of the Cleft Lip and Palate unit.

Emergency Dental Service is also available.
"All children can access the 24 hour on-call emergency dental service, available through PCH’s Emergency Department for:
Emergency pain relief
Traumatic orofacial injuries
Oral haemorrhage
Odontogenic infections.
This service provides basic emergency treatment and will discharge children who are not eligible to receive treatment through PCH’s Dental Department for follow up and definitive treatment through an appropriate external service" (Perth Children's Hospital Web site
