HBF

Recently HBF announce the existing HBF preferred provider scheme will cease December 31, 2018. A new scheme with changed rebates and providers is to replace the existing scheme in January, 2019. The exact details will become clear as 2019 arrives.

BUPA

Bupa also changed their scheme in September. The Port Kennedy Dental Group has been part of the new Bupa Members First Platinum network since it began in September. The main benefit is a free check and clean to eligible patients. Check with Bupa for conditions and terms.

MediBank

Medibank Private also announced a Medibank app. It allows members to check on their current member status. Members can get estimates of what they have to pay on a medical fee, and how much allowance they have remaining.

End of Year

As the end of the calendar year approaches, many patients wish to use up their yearly entitlements. Remember that many dental treatments take time, and so time needs to be allowed to complete treatment this year. A few funds use the financial year for entitlements. Always check with your fund for conditions and terms.

Child Dental Benifits Scheme

The child benefit scheme also has a yearly entitlement and many patients wish to use the yearly benefit. Again allow time to complete treatments. Also check the government’s conditions and terms, as there are several limitations.
