Mouth guards in March.
Pre-season training for winter sports has started and winter sports will begin soon. March is being promoted as Mouthguard month.
Mouth guards help to protect teeth
It is estimated only a low 36% of Australian sport players wear a mouth guard. Sport related dental injuries do occur and make up almost half of all dental injuries. Strong evidence exists to show the wearing of a mouth guard reduces the incidence and severity of dental injuries.
Mouth guards from Port Kennedy Dental Group meet Australian Guidelines
Mouth guards should meet Australian Guidelines. They must fit well, have a suitable shape and have sufficient thickness over the teeth (3-4mm) to reduce damage.
Always remember a mouth guard needs to be worn during training and during a game to protect against injuries.
