Port Kennedy Suburb

28 May 2018

Port Kennedy is a southern suburb in the City of Rockingham. Port Kennedy is named after Sir Arthur Edward Kennedy a governor of Western Australia (1855-1862). A town-site of Port Kennedy was declared in 1953. The suburb was named Becher in 1974. In 1990 Becher was renamed Port Kennedy.

The suburb contains the Port Kennedy Scientific Park (nature reserve) which includes the Bechner Point Wetlands. A resort development/marina has been proposed but has yet not been developed. In recent years a shopping centre has been built. The Port Kennedy Business Park has almost been fully developed.

The Port Kennedy Dental Group has provided dentistry since 1996. It is located at Unit 7, 7-9 Fielden Way, Port Kennedy, located within the Port Kennedy Business Park.
